I am pleased to release two new online lessons this week for unit 7 in the Avancemos textbook!

The first is the vocabulary lesson for Unit 7, lesson 2. The lesson is broken down in to two parts.  The first focuses on introducing the words in Spanish with an end goal of students being able to understand the meaning of the Spanish words if seen or heard.  The second part of the lesson has the end goal of students being able to produce the language in Spanish independently, and correctly spell the words. The second lesson is a grammar lesson from Avancemos Unit 7, Lesson 2 on the verbs ser and ir in the preterite tense.  The lesson focuses on the correct conjugations, as well as being able to recognize which verb is which based on the context of the sentence.  It includes two tiers of instruction.  The second tier of instruction is for further practice and intervention if students do not meet a minimum grade in the tier 1 quiz. I had a request for what the inside looks like... here it is with my own messy hand-writing! This one does not have vosotros on it.  Also, it is just word doc download so you can make the inside look however you'd like if you would organize things differently. 

This past week, my Spanish 1 class made this foldable "craft" to help my students keep straight the differences between possessive adjectives, direct object pronouns, subject pronouns, and articles. Within 5 months, students have to understand the different spellings, uses, and meanings of the following words: Mi, tu, su, nuestro, me, te, lo, la, los, las, nos, yo, tú, él, ella, usted, nosotros, ustedes, ellos, ellas, el, los, las, la.

When I introduce this foldable learning tool,  I tell my students we are going to have arts and crafts time.  It involves folding and cutting, that's a craft right? At times, this has lead to the female students in my class insisting, "this isn't a real craft... it's a man craft!".  AKA, "Maft" Check out this YouTube video for how to construct the foldable "craft".

For fun, we turned ours into an arts and crafts competition.  Students could decorate their "craft", and enter it into one of four categories:
-Manliest
-Most Creative
-Most Decorated
-Prettiest
