Thank you all for your song suggestions so far! We have received a lot of interest so far from classrooms across the U.S. and I am very excited about bringing Spanish students together from across the country to participate! As a reminder, I will post a bracket of 16 songs popular Spanish songs, and then two songs will "battle" each day. I will post youtube videos of those songs here on my website, along with an online poll for students to vote on which song they liked better. The tournament will last 3 weeks in March and end up with one grand winner! Here are some additional rules:
-Songs chosen will obviously need to have lyrics that are school appropriate. With multiple schools participating, we will error on the conservative side if there are any doubts.
-Although we may have some music video rounds if two songs in a battle have appropriate music videos, most of the battles will be lyric videos for students to sing along if they wish.

My students loved this activity last year! How about "Bailando," (Enrique Iglesias) or "El Perdón" (Nicky Jam/Enrique Iglesias)? Those are two of my students favorites. Others . . . "La Bicicleta" by Shakira/Carlos Vives; "Juntos" by Juanes.

Hola, I did a music bracket last March and my Ss enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to see this one! Thanks for the planning.
If anyone ends up doing this on their own...here are a few things I found out or will change for next time. Plan all songs out in advance to be the most efficient in doing the match ups. I made the mistake of putting a few songs we had already done--and those turned out to be the favs usually. I wanted to get an assortment of genres and genders. For the second half I did pairs of the same style of music (i.e. Salsa, cumbia).

If you do this again this year what about dvicio, la oreja de van gogh, or celia cruz a lot of my kids love when we do these artist.

Is there a 2018 list so I can play songs ahead of time for my classes. Or do the match ups come out later? Thanks I just learned about this idea and am getting used to the set up. It sounds great!
